Fire Department History / Photos:

My understanding is the large trophy is a traveling trophy in memory of
deceased Argos Fire Chief Joe Shivers. Do not know when this started,
but this photo is from Argos winning the second year in a row. When,
they won in 1961, Argos got to keep the trophy due to winning three
years in a row.

This picture is from the Waterball Tournament of 1960 at the 4-H fair.
Argos Team Members left to right; Dick Grolich, John Hessler, Willis
Burroughs, and Clark Pearson. ( I know the 1st & 3rd persons are right,
I did not know the other two.) I believe the apparatus in the background
is a 1957 Chevrolet Pumper.....information provided by Mark Thompson.
