Trash & Recycling

The Town of Argos contracts with Republic Services to provide trash removal and recycling pickup for residents. Trash/garbage is removed every Wednesday and recyclable material is removed every other Wednesday. Your tote MUST be out by 5:00 am.

Recycling Pickup

Recycle pickup is performed for residents who use Republic Services for their garbage pickup. Recycle pickup is every other week. Please have your recycle tote out to the street by 5:00 am on your scheduled pickup day. Because this is an automated route, please place your recycle tote approximately 5 feet away from your trash tote so your driver can get to them. Recycling must be clean and free of garbage to make this a successful program. Remove staples, paper clips, etc. from paper products. Labels do not need to be removed from bottles and jars. Flatten and break down everything as much as possible (except glass, of course). Rinse food containers (they don't need to be spotless). Remove metal lids from glass jars and recycle both. Plastic lids can stay on plastic bottles. All items need to be of a size to fit into the tote. If you have more than will fit into the tote, place these items in bags next to the tote so the driver can reload them into the tote for pickup.

Empty. Clean. Dry.

Be sure your recyclables are empty, clean and dry before you toss them in the recycling container. By practicing Empty. Clean. Dry. with our families, we can ensure the recycling materials leaving our homes are in fact recyclable. Together, we are caretakers of this blue planet. Residential Container Placement

Proper container placement is the key to automated trash and recycling services. Have your container to the curb by 6:00 am of your collection day. Place your container at least five feet from any object, like a tree, pole, fire hydrant, mailbox, electrical box, etc., and at least five feet away from cars so the automated arm can reach your container. Large Item Pick-Up

Please view our calendar for upcoming large item pick-up dates. Electronics and constructions materials are not permitted as part of large item pick-up. Tries must be quartered and mattresses bagged.
